Harvest Dinner at Harpur Farm 1600 1067 sydbarron@gmail.com

October 14, 2019 –  Chef David Colombe has partnered with Harpur Farm to provide a one of a kind dining experience in their barn, which is nestled in the corner of their pumpkin patch at the base of Larch Hills. Cozy up in the wood stove heated barn and enjoy five courses of autumnal themed cuisine. Each course will feature local produce and there will be three tasty beverage pairings as well.

Chef David Colombe is a local foods advocate, consistently utilizing and promoting food from local growers and producers from the Shuswap and North Okanagan. In 2009, he was named the “Best Chef of the North Okanagan” and has won numerous competitions and awards for his creativity and recipe development. He has spent much of his recent career teaching and mentoring new chefs in the industry and knows the importance of teaching local food philosophy.

“We are so delighted to be able to host another talented chef at our farm,” says Sydney Harpur, “we can’t wait to see how he showcases the food us and other local farmers have provided.”

Seats are $99 and reservations are available at harpurfarm.ca or by calling Sydney at 778.839.7644, seating is limited, so large parties should book as soon as possible. The Harpur’s are hoping that this will be a learning experience for attendees, but it’ll also make a fabulous date night with some incredible food in a charming setting.

Grand Opening Information

Grand Opening Information 2560 2560 sydbarron@gmail.com

We are so excited that it is almost time to welcome the public to our Pumpkin Patch! There are some questions we have been getting on a regular basis so I figured I would answer them here!

Grand Opening

Date: October 7, 2017
Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm

How much does it cost?

Pumpkins range from $5 – $20 depending on the weight:

  • 3-7lbs: $5
  • 7-10lbs: $10
  • 11-15lbs: $15
  • 15lbs+ (except for the giants!): $20
  • Giants are $1 per pound
  • Gourds are $1 – $3
  • Add $2 for White Pumpkin price

Hayrides are $2 per person – children under 5 are free 🙂

Will there be food & drinks?

Yes, we will definitely have bottled water and Fresh Hot Apple Cider made from our very own heritage apple trees. We are currently in the process of finding some locally made goodies to sell as well.

Why is the grand the opening different from other days?

Most things will be available all throughout October, but we will have some live music (from 12:00pm – 3:00pm), and some more animals visiting throughout the day, we are also hoping to have a professional photographer document your family photos at our vintage photobooth. The hayrides will also be running more frequently on the Grand Opening.

Is there a washroom?

Yes we have an outhouse.

Some things to keep in mind when planning your trip to the patch:

  • If there is rain within a couple of days of your visit you may want to consider wearing boots
  • There is a place to warm up if it is raining, the cafe area will be in the barn and there is some seating.
  • CASH ONLY – the nearest ATM is a couple of kilometres away so keep that in mind
  • ‘Like’ us on Facebook for any updates – ie. hayride issues, parking lot full, out of pumpkins (ha ha)
  • Yes we do group bookings throughout the week email us or call 778.839.7644 to find a date that works

I think that is pretty much it, I will continue to update this post if anything new comes up. This Pumpkin Patch is a dream come true for our family and we are so grateful for the support we have received so far!

New Pumpkin Patch in Salmon Arm

New Pumpkin Patch in Salmon Arm 1707 2560 sydbarron@gmail.com

For Immediate Release:

Harpur Family Farm Pumpkin Patch
There’s a new pumpkin patch in Salmon Arm!

SALMON ARM, BC, OCTOBER 7, 2017 – The Harpur Family is excited to launch their Pumpkin Patch this year in South Canoe. Their first year of pumpkin farming has resulted in over two acres of pumpkins ripe for the picking. They are inviting residents of Salmon Arm and surrounding areas to come to their farm for pumpkins, hay rides, snacks, and fresh hot apple cider made from their very own heritage apple trees. Their super cute miniature goats will also be on hand.

Steve Harpur and Sydney Barron moved to Salmon Arm from Vancouver in July 2016, they both always wanted to own a farm and made the leap to Salmon Arm to make that happen. Sydney grew up in Salmon Arm and had memories of visiting local pumpkin patches as a child and dreamed of one day having her own Pumpkin Patch where children and families could make memories like those she had. The Harpur’s home also happens to be one of Salmon Arm’s 49 Heritage Sites, built in 1914 by English Surgeon and Orchardist Dr. William Buckell.

The Harpur’s are very much excited to put this acreage back to work and welcome the community to their property. The Pumpkin Patch will be open every Saturday and Sunday throughout October from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm starting October 7, 2017. Be sure to take a photo at their vintage photo booth while you’re visiting to share on Social Media.
